Board of Directors

Chairman and Founder — Barbara Wright

Barbara Wright is the inventor of Wright-ESCT™, Equine Stress Control Therapy, an equine psychotherapy based on human protocols that she modified for the horse. Two years into this healing journey, she has healed over 100 horses and trained 6 other therapists. Her goal is to make Wright-ESCT a mainstream word in the treatment, training and healing of horses.

She founded Harmony when she realized how much abused, neglected and unwanted horses can benefit from Wright-ESCT and other treatment modalities. She and her sister have devoted their property in Conifer to healing and retraining these castaways.

An equine artist, she donates all her earnings from sales paintings to the rescue. All proceeds from sales of books and tapes, from clinics and demos and speaking engagements about Wright-ESCT go to Harmony as well.

Her two horses, Victoor PF and Tuesday Bey, are both Arabians and Vic is a rescue horse and the reason for Wright-ESCT. His spookiness caused Barbara to search for outside the box alternatives for healing and training him, and she ended up inventing Wright-ESCT as a result. Not a professional equestrienne, she is however an enthusiastic trail rider and natural horsemanship student.

She studied studio arts at Cal State LA, has a BS in Business Administration from Cal State LA. She is fluent in German, French, Italian and Spanish and reads Portuguese. Her diverse career included international sales and marketing manager for San Francisco area toy companies, artist and illustrator, and art gallery director. With volunteer help she helps here at the rescue as she can as fundraiser.

Director at Large — Michaela Burgnon

Michaela Burgnon is a graduate of U. of Md. where she studied sociology and abnormal psychology. A long-standing career civil servant, she has worked for Social Security since 1973, supervising the budget office at Hearings and Appeals. Her skill at managing budgets and people comes in handy here at the rescue. While still living primarily in Maryland, her heart is in Colorado where she intends to retire.

She founded a community theater group and supports other charitable organizations, serving as fundraiser for activities in her local church to support the poor in South American countries. Fluent in several European languages and an effective public speaker, she also acts as assistant to Barbara Wright during seminars and clinics for Wright-ESCT™ across the country.
